Above all, wine needs consistency: a constant temperature between 54 and 57 °F, humidity of 65–75%, and protection from light. Fluctuations in temperature or humidity are significantly more harmful than slightly varying but stable values. Vibrations—such as those caused by household appliances or traffic—should be avoided as they disrupt the aging process. Direct sunlight or bright light can also affect the wine. Wine is best stored in a cool, dark room or in a professional wine cellar. There it has time to develop slowly and harmoniously.
